Troy

We spent more time driving than we planned, but I wouldn't have traded this road trip for anything else. We visited Troy, Gallipoli, and Assos. We laughed until we cried, ate too much soup in the blazing heat, booked the worst hotel in the world, swam in freezing cold water, saw hundreds of fields of sunflowers, and felt the wind blow through our hair on ferry boats. I knew Turkey was a beautiful place, but I was still in awe the entire way. How could people ever think of Turkey as a desert? I found myself wishing my American friends could experience this with me because I feel like they would finally see my true self. There is nothing quite like standing in the Turkish sunshine and feeling the breeze across my face.
